Young At Heart "Ruffle Feathers" at E&W Wildlife Refuge
There were some "ruffled feathers" on our trip to the E&W Wildlife Refuge in Heber Springs in February. Tweny-nine members and guests made the Young At Heart trip and fed 1/2 bushel of cracked corn to the 200 or more trumpeter swans making this area their winter residence. We can thank the extremely cold weather for their staying for us this year, since they usually depart around February 14th. A truly beautiful bird, and they entertained us with their honking, chasing each otehr and the way they turn upside down to get the corn from the bottom of the pond.
And, if you want the beset hush puppies and desert this side of heaven - check out Mack's Fish House. The fish and fixing's were good too, but after the hush puppes...well...WOW!!
Thanks to Cass Pierson for the article. |
